Trixie is a 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd/Coonhound mix that has had a rough start to life but is eager to find her furever home.  She loves to learn and have something to entertain her mind.  Tennis balls are her favorite toy to play fetch in the back yard however left alone it becomes her favorite toy to destroy.  Trixie has picked up on her basic commands such as sit, stay, and come.  Trixie is kennel / crate trained but typically is left outside of her crate / kennel.  Trixie is also house broken.  Trixie excels the most with consistency and structure.

Trixie has some confidence issues from time to time, so she loves to hear how she’s a good girl and receiving treats for reassurance.  She can be somewhat shy in new places and when meeting new people and needs a calm and patient owner that is committed to working with her to help build confidence.

Trixie enjoys being outside and walks extremely well on a leash.  Trixie would do best in an active home, with either daily walks or a large physically fenced yard to get her exercise.  She would also do best in a home with another dog companion.  Trixie currently lives in her foster home with two male dogs that love to play wrestle with her.  Female dog interactions are unknown but has done well in the past.  Interactions with cats are unknown. Slow introductions are a must with other dogs as Trixie can feel overwhelmed and becomes skittish.   A house with older children, or no children, is a must as Trixie is a high energy dog and knocks things over when excited.
