Biopsy results update:
Missy’s tumor was a mammary gland adenocarcinoma grade II, which is potentially a metastatic neoplasm.  However radiographs did not show any obvious areas of this.  Only part of the tumor was sent in because it was so large so the report says it was incompletely excised yet it also says it was completely excised and to just routinely check the mammary chains and regional lymph nodes.  Survival rate of dogs with grade I and II is 80% at 1 year and 69% at 2 years.  Now we just wait for her hair to grow and little more and get her groomed!

UPDATE post surgery:

Missy is home and sleeping soundly. Her bloodwork was fine and surgery went well. We came home with antibiotics, pain meds and a cone to use if needed. Her skin is quite yeasty so we also were prescribed shampoo.  She will need baths with this medicated shampoo every few days after her incision is healed.
It was thought she had no teeth but there were two infected molars so those were removed. She also was not spayed — which is actually possibly good news because future mammary tumors are more unlikely now that she is spayed.  We were so lucky to have enough money to cover all her medical costs!
THANK YOU!!!

Original Post: This little senior girl is blind and has no teeth. However, she is friendly, eats with gusto and is able to get around and always does her “business” outside.

She could possibly live a lot longer IF this mammary tumor was removed. She could then have a chance at a new home where someone actually cared about her.

We would like to try to have it removed and biopsied. Radiographs were taken at the shelter and there was no evidence that it has metastasized. Bloodwork, surgery and biopsy will likely run close to $800. Can you help us raise at least part of it to help this little dog?
