ADOPTED!

Breed: American Eskimo/Cattle dog
DOB: June 2019
Sex: Spayed female
Foster home: Shaina
343-19

Hi everybody, I’m Gracie! My DNA test said I’m mostly American Eskimo with cattle dog which explains my coat coloring. I’m super soft but I don’t have as fluffy of a coat as a traditional Eskimo dog. I’m 6 months old and I weigh about 17 lbs right now; maybe I’ll get to 25-35 lbs full grown?

I’m super friendly and LOVE all dogs and people. Sometimes I come on a little strong when I meet new dogs because I just want to give them a thousand nonstop kisses but not all dogs like that (I haven’t figured out yet that when they growl and show their teeth they don’t like it).

I’ve only been around kids a little bit but I’d probably do fine if my new family has kids; however I’ve started to do some play biting when I get hyped up recently so maybe I shouldn’t be around really young kids until I learn my manners. The neighbor cat tried to come say hi to me one time but I thought she was so scary!

I’m in my puppy phase of wanting to chew on everything and get into things I shouldn’t so my foster family has to keep a close eye on me right now. Keep in mind I’m strong willed and don’t really listen well to “no”… I stay in my crate when my family’s gone so I don’t get into trouble and to help with potty training. I’m getting better at potty training but still need more work so my new family should be prepared for accidents.

I do have a pretty big bark for a little dog, I especially like to bark when the other dogs at my house have a toy I want, or when my family leaves/comes home; I probably would not be a good fit at an apartment since I don’t keep my voice down.

I am pretty smart, I’ve already learned a few tricks with clicker training. I also am REALLY good at walking around on my hind legs. I love being around people and will be sad if my family is often gone and I’m at home alone. And don’t be mislead by my breeds name, I was not bred in cold climates and like being warm inside the house!

I did have a bit of an accident when I was younger, I took a tumble off the bed and broke my elbow. The nice folks at APB made sure I got surgery to fix my leg up and I’ve been doing really well. You probably wouldn’t even know I had hurt it watching me move around now. But while my bones healed up quickly my tendon had to be cut for surgery and takes longer to heal- vet says until close to Christmas to all heal up. If I get adopted before that my new family needs to continue to try to keep me from using it a lot, so no running, digging, jumping, wrestling, etc… (foster mom says good luck!). I’m only supposed to go outside on a leash for bathroom breaks until I’m healed. I want to run and play so bad though, I can’t wait!! I do have a little bump on my elbow but the vet says it’s just a little irritation from a pin that had to be replaced. Vet says it will either go down with time or once I’m 100% healed next year they can just take that pin out.

I do have a LOT of energy and will need daily exercise once I’m healed up. Even though I’m a smaller dog I will need exercise like a big dog. Please know I have been kind of naughty in the house lately, frequently getting into things I know I shouldn’t and keep trying to do it… foster mom can’t guarantee it but thinks once I can run around outside and get proper exercise that might help me calm down.

My perfect family:
-will be ok with a barky dog
-either has a yard I can run around in or will be able to take me on walks/runs often
-will not leave me at home alone often
-is prepared for potty training accidents
-is prepared to deal with me being naughty and getting into things
-knows I may play bite once in a while
-if they have a dog, their dog will be ok with me frequently trying to lick them, jump on them, and play with them
-will give me lots of love and treat me like a family member!

Think you could be my perfect new forever home?
