No one wanted to adopt me from the shelter because I would need surgery for my “cherry eye”. My rescue took me to the veterinarian for what we thought was a pretty simple eye surgery but it turned out to be a LOT more involved.
I didn’t have a prolapsed third eyelid. My eye had at least a couple of punctures in it and as it had drained and shrank, the third eyelid was exposed. <Sigh!>
Yes, it was pretty painful and infected and now everyone understood why I acted so old and slept a lot.
In addition to my eye problem, I had not been spayed and when they were taking care of that, they found a mammary tumor. The bill was going to be quite large between the removal of my damaged eye and the tumor removal and biopsy.
I am really sorry foster mom. I had no idea! Maybe someone will help us raise a little money to pay the veterinarian for helping me!
Do you like little curly-haired girl dogs who got into some kind of trouble by wrecking her eye? Please consider donating!
Update: My mammary tumor was benign but it was also the kind that does eventually develop into carcinoma so I am so very, very happy it is gone!
