Hi everyone I’m Beanie Baby. I’m 8 months old and I’m a female Doberman that weighs about 45 lbs. I’m in good health, up to date on medical, and spayed.

I’m extra high energy and need to go to a home that can manage that (the high energy Australian Shepherds I live with get annoyed by how hyper I can be). Strong preference for a home with a fenced in yard, otherwise I’d absolutely need a consistent outlet for my energy like if my new family was a runner, or would take me to doggie daycare frequently, or agility classes etc. Even with a yard I’d still need to be with a very active family. Please give a detailed explanation of how you would plan to exercise me in your application. I’d also prefer to have a family that’s home a lot of the time (my foster family works a typical 8 hour day out of the home and I get a lot of pent up energy at home when they’re not there). If my new family works, they’d probably need to commit to morning and evening exercise with me every day.

Since I’m still a little mouthy and like to jump and crawl up on people we’d recommend I go to a home with no kids — responsible teenagers would likely be fine. No cats. Foster mom recommends I either go to a home where I’m the only dog OR to a home with multiple other dogs who are all extra high energy. I LOVE to wrestle other dogs and will try to do it ALL DAY to the point the other dogs at my home get upset with me. I’m a medium barker so an apartment would not be a good idea for me.

I’m a big chewer. Foster moms been working on focusing that to toys and chew bones but know I might go for a baseboard or pillow in your house. I also love eating foster moms flowers and will find any sock that’s laying around so be prepared.

Even though I’m very smart I have been difficult to house train and am still working on this. Because I have so much energy I drink a lot and it seems to go right through me. I had a lot of undesirable behaviors when I first came into foster. I’m doing tons better but I still do glimpses of that occasionally like sassy barking at you when I want something or lightly nipping heels. I’m one of those dogs that doesn’t listen well to “no”.  I would not be a good choice for a first time dog owner. A family with some experience with dog training (and patience!) would be ideal.

Now the good things about me! I’m smart. I love to play with other dogs and play ball in the yard. I especially like to play keep away with toys and get you to chase me around. I LOVE going for walks and rides in the car. I’m very friendly meeting new people. Once I actually get tired I’ll come cuddle with you. With the right family I’ll be a great addition.

APB will offer a trial adoption with me so we can see how I do in my new home and make sure it’s the perfect fit before finalizing my adoption.
