Breed: Shih Tzu
Sex: Spayed female
Weight: 11 pounds
Zoey was surrendered because the previous owner did not have enough time for her. Sadly we soon observed she had blood in her urine and she was squatting frequently but only eliminating a small puddle of urine. As you can see from the picture above, there was not much room in her bladder for any urine!!! She had an immediate emergency surgery done to remove the stones. The next week was a very critical time for Zoey as her bladder was so inflamed and friable that the vet was worried her bladder may tear.
Zoey has not had any complications from her surgery! Her bladder is still intact and she got through the “danger zone” with flying colors! The bladder stones were struvite stones so she will have to be checked every 4-6 months for a bladder infection and she is currently taking a Cranberry/D-mannose supplement to help keep her from getting a bladder infection.
We hope there are some sympathetic people out there who will help us raise money to cover this surgery. We are still treating her for a bad ear infection but she will soon be available for adoption.
Zoey says THANKS for any amount you would be willing to give!
