Mia was left behind when something happened to her owner, and she had no food or water for several days before being found. She was turned in to a shelter in Kentucky, where they knew, at her age, she had little chance of getting adopted. Since she was so sweet, they contacted APB to see if we could take her in to foster and find a final home for her.  She is just an angel and has beautiful dark eyes that look up at you with adoration.  Mia is really a special girl who you can’t help but love.  She loves to go for car rides and walks, and to just roam around in the back yard. She still has enough energy to run the cute little doxie hop. But inside, all she wants to do is cuddle with you.  She is very quiet, and even when she does bark, it is in a very soft tone. Mia gets along with other dogs, but just tries to ignore them. After all, she is older and needs her rest. At night, she sleeps in a dog bed under covers in our bedroom, but she would prefer to be in the bed with you.  Mia is pretty healthy, except for her heart, so takes heart meds twice a day. They are in pill form and she just gobbles them up with her food. Because of the meds, she has to pee often, so has to be watched and let out a lot. We have had her on a soft diet, as she had a dental and had 14 teeth pulled. But she has enough teeth left to be able to chew kibble also. Mia would like a quiet home where someone would be around most of the time,  She is wary of strangers and does bark at new people who come into the home.
We have since found out that she can be very protective and will bark and nip at strangers walking in the house. She would do best in a home with one person or a quiet couple, and few visitors. If you would like to meet her, contact janandal@sbcglobal.net.
