Lilo (that’s pronounced Leelow) and her sister, Stitch, came to APB when they were only three days old. Their mother had injured both of them. Stitch was far more injured than Lilo. She fought hard but the damage was just too much for her little body to cope with. Lilo was the lucky one. She ended up with a small scar on one knee and the loss of the end third or so of her tail. Her foster mom bottle raised her in a house with other dogs and cats.
Her DNA says she is 25% German shorthaired pointer, 25% American Staffordshire terrier, 12.5% American bulldog, 12.5% chow, 12.5% treeing walker coonhound, and 12.5% guard and terrier groups.
Lilo is an extremely friendly, bouncy, active puppy. She loves playing with stuffed toys. She loves everyone she meets whether they are human, canine, or feline. She will respect dogs who enforce the rules and will pester dogs who don’t unless, of course, they want to play as much as she does. The same goes for cats. She will respect any cat who smacks her and will chase and chew on any who don’t. The cats in her foster home don’t care for her much. One stays out of her way, two smack her and the fourth complains while she is being chewed on and has to be rescued.
Lilo is very mouth oriented. She wants to grab everything. She is learning that she is NOT allowed to do that with human hands. For this reason a home with small children would probably not be a good idea. She would love them, but maybe too much.
She was spayed on Dec. 21st, so she won’t be able to go to a new home until near the end of 2020.
