Raleigh is so charming and such a treasure! He is a big, strong, loud, and extremely loving dog who loves everyone he meets! He gets along great with other dogs and is fine with cats. Raleigh loves people so much, more than toys or other dogs! His age is estimated at 3-4 years old (this is just a an estimate, as we have very little history on Raleigh before he came into rescue).
An important thing for Raleigh’s new home is that he has a physically fenced yard (not electronic fencing). Although Raleigh isn’t a digger or an escape artist, and he pees on leash, he only does the rest of his “business” off leash and with some privacy. Also, as a scent hound, it is not safe for Raleigh to be off leash in an unenclosed area because of the tendency for the breed to follow its nose.
Raleigh is also extremely strong – his 82 pounds is all muscle, so he needs an owner who can physically handle him in situations like vet visits. He has an EasyWalk harness that helps a lot.
Raleigh came to APB from a local animal control where he was an unclaimed stray. Yet Raleigh seems to have lived a good life – he is house trained, good in a car, is crate trained, but can also be loose in the house without causing any trouble.
