Orthopedic surgery on leg and hip

Breed: Shepherd mix DOB: 2006 Sex: Neutered male Foster home: Amy   Jake came to APB from a shelter – he was picked up as an almost starved stray with a broken leg. He was so sweet with such a great temperament; they worked very hard to find him a rescue that could get him medical treatment. Unfortunately, his leg had already been broken for a while and started to heal, so the vet suggested that we not do surgery and just let it continue to heal. It will get better and better and he already is using it quite a bit and more each day. The really sad news is that his opposite hip is totally luxated (out of socket) and he now needs surgery on his right hip, his left leg is the broken one. He will most likely have the surgery around the new year to give his broken leg more time to heal. It will cost about $500, if you can help with his surgery costs, please contact APB. jake2 UPDATE 2-6-07 Jake had his surgery 1-31-07, thanks so much again to his sponsors who made it possible. In true Jake fashion, he’s already using his leg, trying to wrestle with dogs, doing stairs and just doing great! He didn’t let it get him down one bit and when he came home the next day, he went right back into his routine. He visited the vet 2-5-07 and they thought he looked wonderful and were very excited that he was already using the leg so much. He goes back again next week for another check up and then…he has a pending adoption to a wonderful family where he is sure to be loved and appreciated as he should have been all along!!! Thank you again to all involved in his success story! jake4
