Freddie is a two and a half year old maltese/shih tzu mix that was an owner surrender in Ohio. We do not know a lot about his past, but he does have a couple of quirks. One is his need to hoard things. If he thinks something has any value to him or his foster parents, he will hide it in his crate. In fact, it can be hard to play fetch because Freddie will go get the toy, but instead of bringing it back, he puts it in his crate! He never chews things, just hides them.

CSC_0370One of Freddie’s most favorite things to do is run! At his foster home, when the door opens, he leaps off the porch and sprints around the entire house as fast as he can. (The entire property is enclosed by fencing.) I know if he had the chance, he would take off out of the yard. So for this reason, a physical fence is required to adopt Freddie.

Freddie is house trained and had very few accidents the first couple of months he was with his foster home. But one day he and one of his foster brothers had a little tussle and after that, the two of them had a marking competition for a couple of weeks. Because he didn’t do this in the beginning, and he doesn’t do it much anymore, I don’t think he would mark if he was in a home with no other dogs, or if he was in a home with a more passive dog than his foster brother.

CSC_0367Freddie does okay with children over 7. Although he tends to guard them from other dogs and that could be scary for a child. He does not do well with small pets, like gerbils; guinea pigs; and especially birds. I’m not quite sure about cats, it could go either way. Like all APB dogs, Freddie is up to date on vaccines, is neutered and microchipped.
